Free online calculators for every real-world question

A calculator used to mean a plastic box with a 7-segment display. Today, if you're trying to figure out whether to refinance, whether your next paycheck covers rent, or whether your macros add up before meal prep, you need more than a raw number — you need context. OnlineCalc is a free online calculator hub built for that. Every tool is purpose-built for one specific question, so you get the exact fields you care about, the exact breakdown that matters, and an AI assistant standing by to explain the result in plain English.

Who uses OnlineCalc

We built these calculators with five groups in mind. Homeowners and renters use our mortgage, refinance, home-buying and property tax tools to model trade-offs before they sign anything. Employees and freelancers use our take-home pay, paystub, self-employment tax and payroll calculators to understand what actually hits their bank account. Students and teachers use our scientific calculator, GPA, algebra solver, statistics, geometry, and unit converter for homework and exam prep. Investors use our compound interest, 401(k), retirement income, annuity and Monte Carlo tools to stress-test long-term plans. And health-conscious readers use BMI, body fat, macro, weight loss and biorhythm calculators to track whatever matters to them.

How we're different from other calculator sites

Most free online calculators stop at showing you a number. If your mortgage payment turns out to be $2,528/month, that's often all you get — no context, no next step. OnlineCalc does three things differently. First, every result has an integrated AI assistant that can explain what your number means, compare it against common benchmarks, and suggest what to try next. Second, the math is transparent: tax calculators show the 2026 federal brackets we used, mortgage tools expose the amortization schedule, and investment calculators break down every contribution and compounding period so you can verify the answer. Third, your inputs never leave the browser unless you explicitly ask AI a question — everything you type stays client-side by default, and nothing is tracked against your identity unless you sign up.

Accuracy and reference data

Calculators are only as good as the constants and formulas they use. Ours are updated to current-year reference data where it matters: 2026 IRS tax brackets and standard deductions, 2026 Social Security wage base ($168,600), current FUTA/SUI rates, and conservative estimates for FHA reverse-mortgage factors. Unit conversions follow NIST reference constants (1 mile = 1,609.344 meters, 1 lb = 0.453592 kg). Financial formulas use the same PMT/PV/FV functions Excel does, so you can cross-check results against a spreadsheet if you want.

Picking the right calculator

If you already know the name, search the box above — results are instant, 2 characters in. If you're not sure, use the "Pick by question" guide higher up on this page, which maps the 10 most common questions to the exact calculator that answers them. If you want to explore a whole topic, every calculator is organized into a category (Finance, Health, Math, Science, Date/Time and so on), and category pages list everything in that space side by side. For anything that deserves its own explanation, the AI assistant on each calculator page can walk you through the math step by step.

FAQ

Common questions

Are these calculators really free?

Yes. Every calculator is free with no signup required. The paid aspect is expanded AI usage — new accounts get 30 AI analyses to use within 30 days, then paid plans ($9.99+/mo) refill daily for heavier use.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every calculator works anonymously. Signing up unlocks calculation history, favorites, PDF/Excel export, and the 30-day AI trial — but it's optional.

How accurate are the results?

Financial tools use standard PMT/PV/FV formulas that match Excel to the cent. Tax tools are updated to current-year IRS brackets. Unit conversions use NIST reference values. Mortgage amortization uses monthly-compounded interest consistent with US lending conventions. For legal filings or professional use, always double-check against the relevant authority — we show the exact math we used so verification is easy.

Does the site store my financial numbers?

No. Inputs are sent to our server for calculation and discarded immediately — we don't log them. Signed-in users can explicitly save a calculation to their history; only those saves are persisted. When you click Ask AI, your question and the relevant numbers are sent to the configured AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, etc.) to generate the explanation.

Which AI powers the explanations?

Administrators can configure any of OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, or other OpenAI-compatible providers. Different subscription plans can be routed to different models to balance cost and quality.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet — every calculator is already mobile-responsive, and can be added to your phone's home screen as a web app (tap Share → Add to Home Screen on iOS, or the browser menu on Android).
